Permanent Wave is a network of feminist artists and activists. We want to challenge gender inequality as it manifests itself in art, politics, and our personal lives, and we want you to join us. We believe that women should see each other as collaborators and inspirations, not rivals. We want to continue the feminist movement that began generations ago by creating a movement that’s relevant to women, queer, and trans people today.

-PW is a movement. It is based on women-identified folks collaborating and working together to do the things we want to do. We work on projects that involve activism, projects that involve community development, and projects that involve the arts.
-PW has on-the-ground chapters in NYC, Philly, Boston, and the Bay Area. The chapters communicate via the PW listserv, and some have their own listservs and online message boards. We hope to be more interconnected in the future. Anyone who has any suggestions how to do that, we would really like to work on this with you!
-Anyone is welcome to start their own PW chapter where they live. In the future, PW plans to have resources available on the PW website that will tell people how to book shows, start doing activist art, etc. We want everyone to be able to participate wherever they happen to live. Eventually, we hope to have a viable national network of activists who communicate and collaborate not only over the internet, but also via on the ground actions.
-PW members meet on the PW listserv and at PW events. Once a month, PW New York City has open full group meetings that anyone can attend. PW chapters in Boston, Philly, and the Bay Area have their own meeting schedules.
-How PW works is basically that people meet each other, find shared interests, and start collaborating on projects. No one tells anyone what to do. We just do things we want to do. We try to collaborate with other PW members, reach out to one another for support, and use the network of amazing resources that we have created.
-Show booking and promotion for bands is not all that PW does. It’s one large branch of the organization, but by no means the only branch. Certain individuals do a lot of PW show booking because it is their personal goal and what they really want to do. Our goal is to book all genres of bands and create real, vibrant community spaces that are inclusive of everyone.
-PW is YOU! There is no secret organizational code or anything. The organization is simply small groups of people working together and making shit happen.
-PW strives to be completely inclusive. We oppose all forms of oppression, including racism, sexism, transphobia, and ablism. Our goal above all is to create a community where everyone feels comfortable and accepted.
-We are not always perfect, and we hope to get better and grow.
